“The details are not the details, they make the design”

States Charles Eames.10 years ago, I took this photo in Denver, and nothing has changed I still love poppy seed pods.    I like the shape and then of course, the wonderful hat on top of the bulbous seed pods, so I love the details that make up this design.These are images that I took on Monday.I created the design in EQ5 (10 years ago) and created a quilt.Our brains are excellent pattern-matchers and reward us for using this very helpful skill. Repetition creates a pattern, which consequently and naturally grabs our attention at first and then creates the comfort of familiarity. I used the Andy Warhol theory and then of course Kaffe did one with bowls in each block.The vertical lines opposed to the  spider like top of the poppy pod direct you eye to the complexity of the image.

I’ve kept the consistency of the red in the bulb, the blue and green in the top and stem. But each different.

The angle of the image also adds to the interest of the viewer, But as you look at the original image, I have really just captured the angle of the pod in the photo.

These are some of the photos I took on Monday. I was trying to capture the color and the softness of the pets compared to the intricacy of the seed pod.
